Research

Development of the capability to model a wide range of complex physical systems. The BLAZE-V software package has been developed using object-oriented programming techniques as a framework for the rapid and efficient construction of computational models for analysis of systems dependent upon fluid-dynamic, plasma-dynamic, electrodynamic, chemical-kinetic, thermal, and optical physics. Effective modeling solutions have been developed for most aspects of chemical lasers (COIL, HF/DF, and CO2/CO) and hybrid lasers (ElectricOIL, DPAL, and XPAL). Current models make use of both finite-volume analysis (including grid generation capability) and fast Newton Marching schemes for both the detailed examination of complex systems and massive parametric optimization. The mathematical and computational methods developed for the multi-physics models are extendable to other problem types such as gaming and learning simulations.
